Exams are synonymous with stress….
But whether you’re a teacher, an exam officer or a school manager, leading education charity AQA endeavours to offer an efficient, hassle-free service.
However AQA’s inflexible and ageing website architecture meant many users increasingly struggled to find essential materials like practice papers and assessment criteria.
And when managing their content internally, even small changes needed a developer to handle the coding. Turnaround was measured not in minutes, but days and often weeks.
The result - a persistent drain on time and budget, and a C- user experience!

This was a great brief, for which credit must go to the client for their bold vision, and their commitment to addressing this important and consequential issue for AQA’s users. It was also a clear example of how composable can help make users’ lives much easier, while helping organisations face the future with confidence.
Through a modular approach to AQA’s new tech stack, we were able to bring together the best tools the market had to offer – no corners cut, no compromises needed. And not only that, the new platform is easy and cost effective to adapt as users’ needs change.
Using composable content cloud Sanity we streamline AQA’s content management, while creating a new, more intuitive UX. This included extensive personalisation such as a new ‘My Account’ feature, and personalised search via Relewise making it quick and painless to find materials. An A* user experience.
